Laura Murphy, Clinical Intern

I believe that we all have an innate desire to build whole and healthy relationships with ourselves and others. My goal as a therapist is to help you do this. I work with families, couples and individuals who want to get unstuck, find ease in the hard parts of life, and build capacity for joy and resilience.

How I Work

We will start our work by developing a safe and trusting relationship, then collaborate to define goals for our work together. Your life experiences and hopes for the future will be at the heart of our work. I aim to support you when you need to be supported, challenge you when you need to be challenged, and to do so with compassion and without judgment.

I bring a strengths-based, sex-positive, queer-affirmative, and body-neutral (HAES) approach, and consider issues of identity, culture, power and privilege in our work together.

My Background

I am a graduate student at St. Mary’s University of Minnesota completing a MA in Marriage and Family Therapy. Before that, I had a career in corporate America, primarily managing projects and leading people. I bring all of my training and experiences to my work with families, couples, and individuals.

I have a particular interest in working with people of all genders and sexual orientations, those adjusting to life transitions (especially parenthood), and those dealing with grief and loss.
